Merly Impressions Challenge

I stumbled upon the Merly Inpressions layout challenge earlier in the week and thought it was a great challenge!  As a scrapbooker I get asked a lot as to what scrapbooking is, but not often WHY do you scrapbook.  So when I saw the challenge was to create a page about "why I scrapbook" I realised that I do not have an incredibly heartwarming story as to why this is my passion and hobby. I scrapbook for the obvious reasons of documenting our life and telling/preserving our story of course, but the reason I scrapbook is simple. It makes me happy and I love it! I like the fact it is a hobby I share with my mum.  I love getting lost in my pretty paper, bling and other yummy stash.

This is the LO I created.

I wanted it to be bright and fun.  I know that not a lot of people are crazy about neon, but I love Heidi Swapp's neon washi tape. It is a recent addition to my stash and I hope to use a lot more of this....

Products I used:
Die cuts from Authentique, My Minds Eye, Miss Caroline, My little Shoebox (mini alphabet stickers)
Heidi Swapp - neon washi tape, Studio Calico abroad paper. Some scrap paper I found in my scrappies box.

Thank you for reading and have a lovely weekend!

ANFSCD

I took part in Shimelle's "and now for something completely different" inspiration challenge on UK Scrappers this month and this is my LO.

I am really happy with the way this came together considering the idea was to use all your scraps.  I was a bit worried when I started taking scrap paper from my box, but as soon as I added the journalling and put the last finishing touches to it I was pretty happy with the result.

Tonight is a big night here in the UK.  Less than two hours to go before the start of the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games! Will you be watching?

Thanks for stopping by,

Peace, Love and Happiness

We attended the Battlesbridge VW's show recently. Matt was in his element.  He LOVES a VW bus. It is easy to see why though.
I will just have to keep my eye on him as our savings might turn up as one of these someday! Surely his love for the VW Bus needed to be documented. ;)

"Peace Love & Happiness"
I used paper by Bella Blvd, superstud for the background. Then adhered the photos on paper by Echo Park, This & That. I continued the star theme by adhering wood veneer stars from Studio Calico. I sprayed the stars first with Mr Huey's Mist in Sunshine. The words Peace love and happiness are from a die cut sheet from Simple Stories. I added die cut tickets from a Tim Holtz die cut and added washi tape and liquid pearls in baby blue.  The Fabric flag was another accidental find on my desk and I sewed that on as I thought it was cute. ;)

While I was sorting through my photos a few weeks ago I came across a stack of photos from 2009.  Oh the joy! I did kind of wonder what happened to that year and why we only had a handful of photos.  I must mention it was also the year we moved.  A lot of things got packed up and went "missing" for a few years.  Today, I will be in my craft room, trying to make a dent in that stack of photos. *smiling happily* Apparently, the sun will be making an appearance this weekend as well. Only two months late.  Happy Days!

"New Year's Eve (2009)"

When I started this page I used the starting point idea from this LO by Shimelle Laine  for inspiration (She is brilliant by the way..) I used Paper from My little Shoebox, English Rose, Melissa Frances, Courage.  Thickers by American Crafts. Buttons and labels from Jenni Bowlin Studio.  Pebbles by Prima. The tiny attacher by Tim Holtz and liquid pearls. I wrapped bakers twine around my finger to create the loop effect above and attached it with my tiny attacher.

Have a lovely Thursday and Thank you for stopping by.

Something a bit different...

So, I have tried my hands at something different and started and Art Journal. I have always been fascinated by these Journal's.  I started one recently to keep my motivational words, bible verses to remember and possibly other cool stuff I find a long the way in.
I prepared my pages first with a layer of Gesso and then sprayed a blue mist covering both pages.
I then ripped pieces of paper from the Dearl Lizzy 6X6 paperpad.  I used this cute little stamp from Amy Tangerine. The little flowers are from Prima. The Jewels on the stamp are from KARS.  I used the dot dot dot stamp from Stampin Up on the butterflies.  I covered card stock in Gesso and waited for it to dry before I cut out the butterflies and stamped them with the dot dot dot stamp. I added glitter to a wood verneer heart with Glossy Accents. I added liquid pearls in baby blue on random big mist splodges.
I used the Wonderful Background stamp from Sir Stamp-a-lot. I then added random rub ons. The Faith Stamp is from Kaisercraft.

I have added washi tape from Bella Blvd and Smash. To finish it all off I painted over the pages with Mod Podge.

Thanks for visiting today and I hope this will inspire you too to try something new/different today!

New Chapter. New Look.

There has been a lot going on in the Lacey household and it really feels like a new chapter in our lives.  So what better way than to celebrate with a new look? So the hair came off.  All of it!  It feels great!!

I know I have been playing a lot with American Crafts products, but they are still so yummy to me…This is another LO and an inspiration tag I have made for my Craft Room using the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook Collection (you know it’s my favourite)
"Relax, take it easy"

"Create Everyday"

So, summer still has not shown its face around here, but we will not get low.  We will keep calm and continue to scrap.  Because we love it and it makes us happy!
For this LO and card I used the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Collection from, you have guessed it! American Crafts….
"We are, better together"
"Thanks a Bunch"
I am off to make a hot cup of tea and put some slippers on!  Aaahh the great British summer!
Have a great Sunday!
Thanks for stopping by!

Bad weather blues...

This bad weather has really been going on for some time now.  It is starting to get me down just a little bit.  My thoughts however are with those people in parts of the country where flooding has been a major issue.  The one good thing about it is I am spending a lot more time in my craft room!

Stunning
Trying to bring the sunshine in by scrapping more of our honeymoon photos and using the Oh so lovely Sketchbook collection by Amy Tangerine for American Crafts (Just love this line so much, I had to order extra) My Craft Room is in the front part of our house where there is no direct sunlight, so on bad weather days (much like today yet again) I do not mind spending time in here.

Happy Days

As I am spending more time in my craft room I am forced to tidy up more as well. I came across this old photo of Matt and I at our friend's wedding while trying to find a storage system for my photos.  We look so young! It had to be scrapped. I was glad to finally put these lovely Vintage brooch self-adhesive flowers from Sassafras to good use. More of that cute mini heart paper from the Sketchbook collection by Amy Tangerine for American Crafts. Stickers from This & That Echo Park. Pearls by Mark Richards. The Bling Frame is from Heidi Swapp. One of my new favourite things to use, Liquid Pearls from Ranger in White Opal. Date stamp Dear Lizzy.

Go Discover
I even had time to finish a LO from the last bits of the March ScrapaGoGo Kit.  I used a punch from EK Success for the scalloped circles and a Jenni Bowlin punch "ticket please" for the ticket boarder. I used a tiny piece of scraps paper, blue adhesive bling I found on my desk and twine that was not included in the kit.
If I am not mistaken that might be a die cut from Amy Tangerine's Sketchbook collection Bits in the top left corner.
I am yearning for some sunshine so I can use some of the yummy summer scrapbooking lines currently out there. Here is hoping we will have some summer soon.

Olympic Torch Relay

Yesterday the Olympic Torch came to Southend  and I really did not want to miss out, so off to the seafront in the rain we went!
Afterwards, our nephew and cousin’s little boy were playing in the fountain on Southend Seafront and I started snapping away.  As I was watching them, the song “hey, hey we’re the monkees” by The monkees came to mind and gave me the idea for this LO.

Products I used:
*Kraft Cardstock *October Afternoon, Report Card – Hot lunch*Sassafras, Monstrosity*Sassafras, paperwhimsies*Dear Lizzy date stamp (American Crafts)*Letters by Cosmo Cricket in Licorice*Chipboard letter Sassafras
Thanks for reading!
